    Citizen Crime Reports
Provides a self service Crime Reporting portal for citizens to file selected categories of crime reports to the agency via a highly secure internet connection.  The portal approach benefits the public by allowing citizens to file reports from the convenience of their own homes, and assists the agency by reducing the resources required to take petty crimes and no-suspect reports. Reports accepted from on-line submissions can be directly imported into the agency’s records management system, eliminating any duplicate data entry

The citizen user is guided through a series of questions and specialized data entry forms designed to capture the needed data for a valid police report. Once the report has been completed, the agency is notified that the report is ready for review. Agency personnel will review the submitted report to ensure that the information is complete, and will initiate the appropriate clerical and investigative actions.

Citizens Service Portal | Report Entry
The portal allows the agency to specify the categories of crime reports that are allowed.  Reports can include basic crime data (face page, reporting party, other involved parties, vehicles, property, and narrative.  Simple supplements can also be filed if new information develops.

Citizen Service Crime Reports
FOR NON-EMERGENCY PROPERTY CRIMES
CAN support on-line forms to report:
• Theft
• Criminal Damage
• Burglary from Vehicle
• Lost Property
• Bicycle thefts
• Open Garage Burglaries
• Traffic Incidents that occurred over 24 hours prior to report and do not involve injuries, alcohol/drugs or other criminal acts.

Data from the initial filing is held in suspense until reviewed within the agency.  At this point, the reviewer can accept the report (i.e. generate a full crime report) or reject the filing with reasons and notes back to the citizen doing the submission.  At any time, the citizen can inquire over the Internet on the status of their report or register to be notified of changes via e-mail.

Access security to the public filings is controlled by the local agency and any number of authorized agency personnel can have access.   If the citizen filing is accepted as a legitimate crime report; it is automatically moved to the agencies servers where it enters the normal review, approval, and follow-up process.   At any time, the citizen can inquire over the Internet on the status of their report or register to be notified of changes via e-mail.  For EIS customers, this eliminates all redundant data entry.
