PS.NET/Citizens Service Portal
Community Information Portal

The PS.NET/Citizens Service Portal (CSP) is designed to provide Community Interaction with Law Enforcement Agencies serving their area, as well as public access to crime information in their neighborhoods. It is designed to improve communication between the public and the local public safety agencies, and provide public access to crime information for jurisdictions serviced by the participating agencies.  It is also an effort to streamline essential services and reduce the costs of local government.  The Citizen Service Portal will help public safety agencies provide an improved level of service and communications with the citizenry at large.  The application is provided as an inexpensive service that can provide big dividends for the participating agencies.

These services include the following.

    Citizens Service Portal

  1. Crime Activity Mapping - Interactive Crime and Activity Pin Maps showing selected crime categories within a geographic area for a selected time frame.  The portal pin mapping capability provides a “window” for the citizen to view neighborhood and community crimes and crime trends.
  2. Crime Reporting - Provides a self service Crime Reporting portal for citizens to file selected categories of crime reports to the agency via a highly secure internet connection.  The portal approach benefits the public by allowing citizens to file reports from the convenience of their own homes, and assists the agency by reducing the resources required to take petty crimes and no-suspect reports. Reports accepted from on-line submissions can be directly imported into the agency’s records management system, eliminating any duplicate data entry. This is intended for low profile, cold calls that are a drain on agency resources and that generally have little or no need for follow-on investigative services.
  3. Agency Integration - The Agency can also provide direct links to the services from their own internal WEB sites.  This makes the hosted service appear as part of the services provided directly by the Agency.   This is often the most direct and easiest method for the public to find and use the services.
  4. Modern technology - The Citizens Service Portal employs a number of advanced services and technologies; including Microsoft Communications Foundation, a service based architecture, and Microsoft’s Silverlight.   The end result, however, is a an easy to learn, and easy to use computing experience for both your agency, and most importantly, for the public.  The Citizen Service Portal is tightly integrated with your existing applications and requires practically no training to use.
